Sebastian's First Report
Sebastian's first report about our trip from San Diego to Puerto Vallarta.
Hi my name is Sebastian and I am 9 years old. I am cruising on a sailboat with my family, my brother Benjamin (6), my Mom Niki and my Dad Robert. We left on December 12, 2005 from San Diego,CA to Mexico. We are in Banderas Bay in Puerto Vallarta. My Mom is going to write the rest on the computer what I wrote on paper.
These are the things that were cool so far:
~ In Asuncion I found petrified shark teeth. ~ In Los Muertes I went to a restaurant that had a pulley that holds you upside down by your feet like a fish. I did it, it was a weird feeling. ~ In La Paz we got to celebrate Christmas with our friends the Martins. They are another cruising family. They have two boys called Tristan (10) and Matthew (7). You can check their webpage at www.ohanakai.net ~ During the 3 day Sea of Cortez crossing on the second day it was my birthday. I got a Guinness World Record 2006 book, finger painting, a game boy game, $ 30,- and a bracelet from Ohana Kai. I went swimming in the middle of the ocean. We tied up with Ohana Kai and swam together. ~ In San Blas we took a long dinghy ride to a freshwater spring. It had a swing over the water and a restaurant. I saw 3 crocodiles, lots of birds and 3 turtles. I was upset that my did not bring my camera. ~ When we came to Banderas Bay we saw whales really close up, some smacked their tails on the water. We got to La Cruz on the same day we saw the whales. La Cruz is a small village in Banderas Bay. Is is a 20 min. bus ride to Puerto Vallarta. Our friend Bonnie came to visit us for 7 days. It was nice that she came and do fun stuff with her. ~ My grandpa and uncle came from Austria three days after Bonnie left. We went to a village called Yelapa with a panga, it is a small fishing boat. We didn't go with our boat because it is hard to anchor. We could also not go with a car because there are no roads in Yelapa. When we went back to our marina we saw tons of Manta Rays, they are huge. One day we went out to the islands to go snorkeling. I went snorkeling with my uncle and hardly saw anything. We spent a few more days in La Cruz then they left, I was soooooooooo (10 o's dictated by Sebastian!) sad. They got Benjamin and me a awesome new camera.
We are going to South Pacific in 6 weeks. I hope you write back.
Your friend Sebastian!
PS Note from the "typer" - Sebastian set next to me dictating it, correcting all my mistakes and checking that I wrote what he had pre-written. PPS We also have new picture albums out on the net from our stay in PV.
